MEC-06Page count and density

Short answer

MEC-06 judges CV length against your career level: one page for graduates, one to two pages mid-level. Documents over three pages, or ones that end halfway down page one, fail — and the rule also measures meaningful content density per page.

What it checks

  • Total page count against career-level expectation
  • Character density per page
  • Fill ratio of the last page

Why it matters

An overlong CV shows you cannot prioritise, and everything after page one usually goes unread. A too-short CV narrows the ATS keyword pool and lowers match rates.

How to fix it

Size the CV to your seniority: one page for 0–5 years, at most two for 5–10. Trim bullets on older roles and compress anything over ten years old into a single line. If it is too short, add projects and measurable results.

Frequently asked questions

Is a two-page CV acceptable?

Yes, from about five years of experience. For a graduate the second page is almost always filler that dilutes page one.
