GEN-01 — Reverse-chronological order
Short answer
GEN-01 checks that experience and education entries run newest to oldest. Some parsers take the "current role" field from the first entry in the list, so a broken order makes an old internship look like your current job.
Current order
- Intern · 2018
- Software Engineer · 2022 – Present
Correct order
- Software Engineer · 2022 – Present

What it checks
- Order of experience entries by start date
- Order of education entries
- Position of the ongoing role in the list
Why it matters
A recruiter has to scan the whole CV to find what you do now; in a six-second scan the first thing they see is an old internship, and they place your level wrong. Some parsers read the current role from the first record.
How to fix it
Sort experience and education newest first. The current role always sits at the top.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use a functional CV?
Not for ATS applications. Hiding the chronology stops both parser and recruiter from computing your experience.
