GEN-02Section order vs. career level

Short answer

GEN-02 evaluates whether the section order matches your career level. Education on top of an experienced engineer’s CV signals stalled progression; for a graduate, education and projects belong first.

What it checks

  • Order of sections in the document
  • Career level derived from total experience
  • Which section appears in the first half page

Why it matters

The first half page must carry your strongest evidence. Education first on a six-year engineer’s CV reads as no progression; a three-month internship first on a graduate CV is a weak opening.

How to fix it

Order sections by seniority. With 2+ years: Summary → Experience → Projects → Skills → Education. As a graduate: Summary → Education → Projects → Internships → Skills.

Frequently asked questions

Graduate: education or experience first?

Education — but keep strong internships and projects right behind it, still on page one.
