GEN-03 — Bullet length and density
Short answer
GEN-03 measures bullet word counts and how much of the experience section is written as paragraphs. Bullets over 30 words go unread in a six-second scan, and paragraph blocks are often ingested as a single field, so the achievements inside them are never parsed.
Bloated bullet
- Worked within the payments infrastructure team taking on various responsibilities and used many different technologies while carrying out work aimed at improving the overall performance of the system.
Tight bullet
- Rewrote query plans in the payments service; p95 latency fell from 820ms to 310ms.

Target
What it checks
- Word-count distribution per bullet
- Paragraph blocks with no bullet marker
- Bullets per role
Why it matters
Long bullets are skipped and paragraphs collapse into one parser field, hiding every achievement inside them. Very short bullets carry no signal at all.
How to fix it
Keep each bullet between 10 and 25 words on a single line, 3–5 bullets per role, and split paragraphs into bullets.
Frequently asked questions
