GEN-05 — Responsibility list
Short answer
GEN-05 measures whether bullets describe duties or achievements. Patterns like "was responsible for" copy the job description back at the reader and make you indistinguishable from 200 other candidates with the same title.
Duty
- Joined code review processes.
Achievement
- Introduced a review standard and PR template; average review time fell from 2 days to 4 hours.

What it checks
- Bullets matching responsibility patterns
- Whether the bullet states a result
- Share of text written in job-description language
Why it matters
A duty sentence says "I was assigned this", not "I did this and it produced that". The job description is already in the posting; the CV exists to show the difference you made.
How to fix it
Write achievements, not duties: "Responsible for X" → "Did X, which produced Y". Example: "Joined code reviews" → "Introduced a review standard and PR template; average review time fell from 2 days to 4 hours."
Frequently asked questions
How do I convert a duty into an achievement?
Add what changed and by how much. Without a number it is still a job description.
